Book Benefit Program

The Book Benefit Program (BBP) accepts books from various donors and provides the books to other 501(c)(3) and publicly funded organizations. The organizations are selected based on need and verification that the books will be used to further the educational, literacy, and community awareness purposes of CIPA ELF.

Since 2006, the CIPA Book Benefit Program has distributed more than $300,000 worth of books to libraries, schools, and various organizations all across Colorado.

Past recipients have included schools, libraries, shelters, senior centers, hospitals, prisons, civic groups, book clubs, and other literary organizations.

CIPA ELF also accepts donations of new books, especially children's and young adult titles, that are well suited for our beneficiaries. If you have books to donate, or to find out how to volunteer to help inventory books and/or deliver them, please contact us at admin@cipaelf.org. 

Distributed

In 2019, the CIPA ELF Book Benefit Program distributed more than $86,000 worth of books to organizations across Colorado and South Dakota, including the following:

  • Warren Village: 23 books, valued at $273.73

  • Prairie Unitarian Universalist Church: 310 books, valued at $4,818.14

  • SkyRidge Medical Center: 60 books, valued at $1,008.44

  • Veterans Affairs Hospital, Aurora: 125 books, valued at $1,904.80

  • Children's Hospital: 59 books, valued at $877.35

  • St. Francis of Assisi Church, Castle Rock: 262 books, valued at $3,986.35

  • PREP Academy (Denver Public Schools): 333 books, valued at $4,742.29

  • Westminster Public Library: 220 books, valued at $3,009.22

  • Kenzi's Causes: 278 books, valued at $3,222.42

  • Institutional Library Development, Colorado Department of Education: 916 books, valued at $13,410.57

  • Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota: 732 books, valued at $10,131.53

  • Park County Library District: 221 books, valued at $3,813.23

  • Ignacio Public Library: 21 books, valued at $388.39

  • Lone Cone Library: 106 books, valued at $2,082.81

  • Lamar Public Library: 159 books, valued at $2,129.27

  • Combined Community Library (Ordway): 122 books, valued at $1,725.90

  • Pueblo City-County Library: 136 books, valued at $1,679.82

  • Lake County Public Library: 72 books, valued at $1,630.89

  • Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility: 475 books, valued at $7,665.30

In 2018, the CIPA ELF Book Donations Program distributed more than 2,000 books, valued at nearly $39,000, to the following organizations:

  • Lamar Public Library: 132 books, valued at $1,762.39

  • Colorado State Penitentiary: 52 books, valued at $1,026.57 

  • Four Mile Correctional Facility: 35 books, valued at $553.17

  • Sterling Correctional Facility: 122 books, valued at $2,401.34

  • Limon Correctional Facility: 540 books, valued at $8,065.01

  • Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility: 596 books, valued at $12,638.24

  • Park County Library District: 188 books, valued at $4,568.64

  • Lafayette Public Library: 170 books, valued at $3,458.61

In 2017, the CIPA ELF Book Benefit Program distributed more than 250 books, valued at nearly $4,000, to the following organizations:
